With all the back to school excitement, let’s not forget those teachers out there! If you’re a teacher, you probably have some ideas for your classroom and you want it to be inviting for the kids and for you as well. The first day of school is big for everyone! Since a teacher suggested I make a pennant banner tutorial based on this one, I made one for her Kindergarten class.
Not a teacher? What about making one of these as a photo backdrop or door decoration at home.
That’s where the teacher pennant banner comes into play. This banner is easy to create, fun to personalize, and a quick way to add some serious character to your classroom.
So here’s how to make a pennant banner of your own:
- You can get six pennants from one sheet of 12″ x 12″ patterned paper, so to start cut your coordinating 12″ x 12″ patterned paper in half so you have two 6″ x 12″ pieces of each. Then cut all the half sheets according to this diagram:
- Cut out letters to spell “Kindergarten” (or Back to School or whatever else your heart desires) using a Silhouetteand glue them onto each pennant. If you don’t have a Silhouette, any die cut, alphabet stamps, or letter stickers would also be cute–there are lots of options!
- Cut ribbon to the right length and find the center. Working from the center, staple the pennants to the ribbon making an X at each corner.
- Find somewhere cute to hang it!
I told you they were simple. :)
They’ll last a long time at the top of a chalkboard or would look darling on the front of the teacher’s desk. And if you make one for home, try it on a mantle, doorway, or down a stairway! There are so many ways to decorate with a pennant banner!
What are you going to do with yours?
