A few weeks back I shared some fun girls’ t-shirts as part of a pattern tour, and mentioned that there was also a women’s version that I was going to sew. Several of you asked to see this version as well, and I am delivering today.
While I really like the girls’ pattern, I LOVE having one of my own. I seriously love envelope-style shirts, and you just can’t find them very often for women so the Extraordinary Girl for Women is amazing (affiliate).
I sewed this one with some Girl Charlee striped knit and a jersey knit sheet I got last year (it’s the same sheet I made this maternity dress from actually). I love the combination because it’s soft and mustard is a color I wear often.
I love that the shoulders provide enough coverage that I don’t have to constantly check for showing bra straps (because that’s annoying) and the detail is what sells me on this shirt.
I actually made the sleeves elbow length for this version because that’s all the stripe fabric I had–and I really like it! The pattern includes long and 3/4 sleeves, both of which I really like too. I’m a 3/4 sleeve girl year round actually. It sews up pretty quickly and it’s such a fun shirt with the subtle hi-low hem and (of course) the fabulous shoulder detail.
Now I just want to make several more Extraordinary Girl tees–I often pull it straight out of the dryer and put it on so it hasn’t had much drawer time which means I obviously need to make more.

Love this! Such a great casual look and that color looks great on you!
Thanks, Rebecca. There’s a LOT of mustard in my closet. 🙂
Gorgeous. I love the color block look of the shirt. Thanks for the recommendation on a great new pattern.
Thank you Kristie! The color block option is one of the reasons I love this shirt. You won’t go wrong with it!
Wow! You did an amzing job, I love the colors!
Thank you so much Mel, the pattern is amazing!
Love that tee! What a vibrant color to wear for spring and summer 🙂
Found you via the linkup. Would you like to follow each other on GFC and social media? Pls let me know if you’re up for it 🙂 xoxo

Hi Abby, thanks for your comment. It’s been a perfect tee for spring, and I can’t wait to make more!
So cute Lisa! I LOVE 3/4 sleeve. It makes my arm look so much thinner in pictures. (o:
I love 3/4 sleeves too. I’m perpetually cold, so a 3/4 sleeve gives me warmth without getting too hot.
You did such an excellent job! It’s easy to see that this is a really high quality piece! I’ve never actually don’t any sewing with knits…they tend to intimidate me a bit.
Thank you so much, Rachel. It took me a little while to try them, but I really love how forgiving they are. Just give it a try!
I click on the link for Extraordinary T for Woman, but end up with the pattern for girls till age 14. Where can I find woman sizes?
Thanks for the heads up–I’ve fixed the link to go to the women’s version now! It is seriously my favorite even still.
Cute collage! I absolutely could imagine myself wearing this look! So pretty
