Why I Create

I created this site as a place to document my need to create. I have so much to learn, and I feel like every project I undertake is another step toward figuring out my style, my abilities, and my self. Not long ago, my husband commented (after I’d come down out of my craft room) that it really did make me happy to create. The peace and calmness is palpable when I’ve had a creative release. Time to be quiet and listen to my head and heart. It’s like meditation in some respects. Quite simply, I’m lost without it.

And while I don’t feel that I’m the sum of my creations, I do feel that they keep me grounded and sane. They help me be a better person and a better mom. They make me happy.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf said:

The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty…. Don’t let the voice of critics paralyze you. You will make the World a better place. Improve, beautify, extend, smile, cultivate, develop, create.

Yes, that’s it! There is something soul-deep that demands to be expressed. It is real and driving. And when I heed its call, I am divinely happy.

I hope you’ll visit often and be inspired to create.
