A-line A la Mode Top

I’ve been sewing quite a bit for Kids Clothes Week this week, and wanted to share this fun top with you. It’s the A-line A la Mode dress from Blank Slate Patterns.

It’s a fun little sew with a cute exposed zipper that gives it personality. I also loved the way Melissa has you encase the zipper on the inside–it leaves the whole thing looking professional. I decided to shorten it into a top because I’ve been loving Brynley in cute fitted tops. With her small frame the cuteness factor is pretty high. I also wanted a little extra punch of color so I tied a ribbon belt around her waist.

For this version of the A-line a la Mode, I shortened the zipper a little so it was more proportional to the top length and I made the arm bands half the width for a more feminine sleeve. I also was able to make this top out of 2 fat quarters for the main and a little from a third accent fat quarter. It was pretty fun.

And she looks pretty cute in her new A-line a la Mode Top!
