I’ve loved the look of the Mouse House Creations from Caroline Party Dress. It’s so simple and classic in its styling and provides a beautiful canvas for a casual or fancy dress.
Its become tradition that I make a birthday dress or skirt for all my girls on their birthday. I was looking through my patterns when Maya turned one (a few months ago) and was elated that the Caroline Party Dress came in baby sizes. Maya is quite petite, so finding a pattern for her can be challenging. But when I realized this was her size, I knew it was meant to be.
I had been holding onto this fun Amy Butler fabric for a while–it was something I picked up in a trade and it had been used as a curtain so it was faded from its original brightness into a beautifully soft mint and aqua. It was perfect.
I will confess to not paying attention to the pattern at first, but when I realized I could have a little medallion in the center of the bodice, I recut the bodice and I LOVE how that detail is framed by the peter pan collar. It was so worth the extra cutting to have that design look so perfect in that space.
I made everything according to the pattern and opted for the peter pan collar and no underskirt. I did tack on the ribbon to the waist to cinch it in just a bit and give it a belted look which I LOVE. It was straightforward, easy to complete, and the results made me giddy for days. I hung it in my sewing space instead of her closet for weeks I loved it so much.
I loved it so much that it became the inspiration for all our family photo outfits, including my outfit above and a couple more I still need to share with you. So if you’ve been considering the Caroline Party Dress, I highly recommend it!
