Kid’s Clothes Week Begins (Tuileries Dress)

Are you ready for Kids Clothes Week!? I am pretty excited. I’ve been cutting and prepping for a week now, and you’ll probably see extra posts because of all the fun stuff I’ve got planned!

First up is this Tuileries Dress from Kelly at Sewing At No Man’s Land. I was so excited by this pattern/tutorial that I had to whip one up.

I used some fabric that I picked up at a thrift store a week or two ago–$2 for about 4 yards–that seemed to go with the classic/vintage vibe of the dress.

The Tuileries Dress is a pretty quick project to sew, and I think it’s darling.

The pockets are quite the hit

and the exposed zipper is a fun touch.

I didn’t go with the covered buttons in the pattern, because I wanted a little yellow contrasting color at the front of the dress, and the buttons weren’t doing it for me (although I’m sure I’ll use them on the next version because I already have another one dreamed up for Brynley).

Instead I created a sash that can be worn either in a bow or as a belt. I can’t decide which I like best.

Saige was just determined to get the photo shoot done so she could get out of the shade and into the sun.

The bow version is preppy cute. A little bit school girl and a little bit sweetheart.

The sash version is classic and chic.

And I like that I can choose the look depending on my mood. If you haven’t yet, go check out the Tuileries Dress and download it for free for a couple more days! UPDATE: The Tuileries Dress pattern is now available Here for $3.

Which one do you like best?
