Vintage Dress Watercolor Printable

Today I’m excited to be part of Polka Dot Week at R&R Workshop. Each day this week a couple of bloggers will be posting their polka dot-inspired projects because polka dots are so cute they really should be celebrated.

My first thought was to make something from some cute polka dot fabric I have, but nothing was really jumping out. But I wanted to watercolor, so I started thinking about a few fun things to paint. I have also been thinking a lot about how much I love the silhouette of vintage dresses and pretty soon I was watercoloring a cute little mustard yellow version.

I love how its on a dress form like it’s just waiting for someone to try it on. Add this vignette to a cute polka dot mat, and it’s as cute as can be. The only problem is that now I want that dress for real.

But until I find the perfect pattern and fabric, we can all enjoy this printable together.

I also decided that it would be fun to offer the dress without the polka dots. I wanted to make a whole series of watercolor dresses that could be enjoyed together or separately, and this is the starting point. So you can choose the polka dot version above or a simplified version below.

  • I think it would be adorable in polka dots with a solid belt .. But that is just my humble opinion !LOL
It would actually be very pretty in just about anything one wanted to do it in as it is just that type of pattern ..

    • Ooh, yes it would. I don't know that I could do polka dots justice with all the folding and draping though. :)

      • Hmmm.. so how about the top polka dot ? LOL or just the belt ? I think either would look so adorable!!
Ahh.. you will figure it out; you always do ! Good luck on whatever you decide.

  • THIS is the CUTEST THING I have seen all... my life! I love it. I'd love to hang it in my sewing room!

    • Thanks, Crystal! I love yellow and aqua together, so it was a natural pairing for me. :) And thanks for hopping over!
