Easy Fall Wreath

Ooh, fall is coming! I made up this REALLY easy fall wreath last year, and I’m getting to share  it with you now. I can’t believe how simple it is, but this easy fall wreath took me less than 10 minutes and the simplicity is what draws me to it. So here goes!

Good morning! I’m Lisa Mabey from Mabey She Made It, a DIY, craft, and sewing blog. I’m so excited to be here at Let’s Eat Grandpa today because I love Cori and everything she puts on her blog–she’s amazing, and I’m happy she let me share her space today.

Here in Idaho, it’s really cooling down and fall is definitely approaching. The leaves haven’t started changing colors yet, but it’s harvest time and there are lots of farmers out combining the grain. It’s my favorite time of year. So I thought I’d do a quick wreath to share today.

I started with a  grapevine wreath that I found at a thrift store and stripped it down to the bare wreath. Then I took some of that gaudy foliage it had been wearing and gave it a little makeover.

I took these leaves and gave them a coat of white spray paint or two. I wasn’t too concerned about getting them perfect, I just wanted to drown out some of the color.

There was a sprig of berries, and I just dusted them with the white so they were more muted.

When the white was dry, I gave them a light dusting of gold spray paint just for a little shimmer and so it wasn’t so stark. I like the way the light plays on the leaves now.

Once all the color was toned down, I wanted to bring a little color back in in smaller amounts. I first added the shimmery leaves to the wreath so they’d act as a background of sorts.

I had these small purple berries, a few wheat stalks, and a couple other small accents that I just weaved into the grapevine–I didn’t even use any glue!

Add a cute bow with a little piece of wire or some glue, and this easy fall wreath is finished.

It’s a lot less traditional now with the shimmery leaves and a little more my style.

If you like my easy fall wreath, I hope you’ll come join me at Mabey She Made It for more fun ideas like these:
